Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin Shoaff; her daughter, Kim Schmitt, and son-in-law, Augie Schmitt; her mother, Lorena Ellefson; her brother, Tim Ellefson, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ellefson. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward E. Ellefson; mother-in-law Violetta Shoaff; her brother, Edward Ellefson; maternal grandparents Leland and Thecil Douglass, and paternal grandparents Edward and Dorothy Ellefson.

Early on, Karen worked as a nurse’s aide and later transitioned into private home healthcare, dedicating much of her life to caregiving, especially for her family. Her compassionate and selfless nature extended to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a loving, caring, and fun individual who formed lasting friendships wherever she went.

Karen had many passions, including classic rock music, fishing, gardening, and her love of dogs. Some of her fondest memories include fishing on Lake Erie and attending live concerts, especially performances by Bob Seger, The Eagles, The Allman Brothers, The Doobie Brothers, The Rolling Stones, and many more. Music was a soundtrack to her life, and it brought her much joy.

She was known for her heart of gold, always willing to help anyone in need. With a feisty nature and a vibrant personality, Karen touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
